Karl Birky, chairman of Friendsview’s board of directors, said in his dedication remarks, “We are a community, friends of Jesus, not a corporation. We are a community of hope, compassion, integrity, service, and dignity, dedicated to caring for each other…. That’s what we’ll continue to be.” Special guests introduced by Dennis Russell, Friendsiew’s executive director, included Bob Andrews, Newberg’s mayor; Dean Worth and Pat Worth, instrumental in providing the site; David Curtis and Eric Timmons of Yorke and Curtis, Inc; Chris Dalengas, Melissa Guarin, and Julie Mast from Ankrom Moisan, architects; Karl Birky and other members of the board. The community center was designed by Ankrom Moisan, architects, of Portland and constructed by Yorke and Curtis, Inc. of Beaverton. |
A dedication service on Friday, February 20, officially opened the Springbrook Meadows community center, the 4,300 square foot addition to Friendsview Retirement Community’s newest neighborhood. The facility includes a fitness area, full-service up-to-date kitchen, platform, audio/visual capabilities, and an elegant stone fireplace. Residents anticipate using the spacious meeting room for monthly meetings, family gatherings, hobbies, special programs, games, and dinners.
