CNA needed now for on-call

We are currently accepting applications from licensed CNA's who are willing to start working on-call, including weekends and holidays. 

starting wage: $ 11.36/hour

You must have a current CNA license in Oregon and an appreciation of the needs of older adult residents.  Duties include assisting with activities of daily living(ADLs) and basic care in a manner which enhances dignity and personal choice, and in accordance with individual care plan.

JOB SUMMARY: Assist residents who have functional, physical and social impairments to engage in activities of daily living in a manner that fosters independence, freedom of choice, privacy and dignity, following Friendsview’s philosophy of care and CNA practice regulations.

Essential Functions

1. Effectively communicate with residents, guests and staff using good interpersonal skills
2. Carry out person-centered care that protects residents’ rights including their right to refuse
3. Carry out infection control, standard and transmission-based precautions including utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
4. Applying oxygen safety concepts, assist with management of oxygen according to CNA practice standards
5. Assist with skin care protocols according to CNA practice standards
6. Assist with restorative care including promoting physical activity and range of motion
7. Assist with respiratory care according to CNA practice standards
8. Assist with personal hygiene and care of residents’ hearing aids, glasses, and dentures
9. Assist with toileting needs and bowel and bladder care according to CNA practice standards
10. Assist with end of life care
11. Assistance with meals and nourishments.
12. Answer all call lights promptly.
13. Reposition residents according to care plan.
14. Take vital signs, weight, height, orthostatic blood pressure readings as directed by nurse.
15. Follow directions and instructions given by the charge nurse or other licensed staff
16. Use gait belt, lift, mobility devices, friction-reducing devices and bariatric equipment according to policies.
17. Assist residents to participate in in-house activities and worship services.
18. Observe and report changes in residents
19. Monitor resident areas for safety hazards and carry out emergency procedures using good principles of body mechanics. In case of catastrophic event (fire, flood, earthquake, or other emergency) make all reasonable efforts to report to campus and provide support as directed by emergency coordinator.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Maintain confidentiality and respect residents privacy at all times

·      Attend and participate in orientation, training, educational activities, staff meetings and in-services to fulfill CE requirements

·         Attend Resident Care Conferences when assigned.

·         Assist with training new staff members

·         Report to charge nurse any suspected abuse, neglect and/or mistreatment of residents

Attitude and Teamwork:

·         Demonstrate the ability and attitude to get along with residents, employees and supervisors.

·      Work Cooperatively as a team member maintaining positive working relationships with staff in all departments

·         Meet Friendsview attendance and call-in standards including working your fair share of weekends and holidays  

·         Meet Friendsview’s communication standards that support positive working relationships and demonstrate respect and courtesy at all times

Required Knowledge and Experience

·         Completion of eighth grade education.

·         CNA certification from Oregon State Board of Nursing.

·         Mandatory continuing education provided at staff in-services to maintain licensure.

·         English writing skills and basic computer knowledge for documentation.

·         Verbal English language skills adequate for communication with residents and staff.

Physical and Mental Requirements

·         Heavy lifting, pulling, pushing including resident transfers

·         Walking continuously for most of the working hours.

·         Pushing or pulling occupied wheelchairs, commodes and other equipment.

·         Reaching, kneeling, stooping, bending, and twisting

·         Able to pass PT physical capacity screen

·         CPR, AED and Abdominal thrust certification or willingness to take class
