Dear Friendsview community,
Public Health officials indicated that the many challenges this year has presented would get worse this winter before they got better and that has certainly proven true so far. Still, I am constantly overwhelmed by the expressions of love and support so prevalent throughout our community. The well-being of each and every member of our Friendsview family remains our highest priority, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued prayers, patience and support as we navigate the difficult and uncertain COVID-19 landscape.
As part of Friendsview’s weekly staff and resident surveillance testing, we learned on December 26th that one resident who resides in Creekside Enhanced Living has tested positive for the virus. The exposure happened off-campus and the resident was already following necessary precautions.
Because we know the virus has the potential to spread quickly, we have instituted immediate isolation and careful health monitoring, and, if need be, we will be prepared to respond to additional cases. We worked quickly to contact and test anyone who may have been in close proximity with this individual as well.
We have been in touch with public health officials and are following procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Oregon Department of Health. They have implemented an Executive Order which prohibits indoor visitation, group activities and a number of other activities for the time being.
While unsettling, this news serves as a real reminder that this global health crisis is still very real and present in our community and our lives. With many having had family gatherings for the recent holiday season, it is as more important than ever to be diligent in adhering to best practices for infection control, including appropriate handwashing, masking and social distancing measures. We ask everyone in our Friendsview community to monitor for signs and symptoms of the virus, and seek appropriate medical care immediately if you believe you are exhibiting symptoms. Please then notify us of any positive COVID-19 test results.
Moving forward, we will continue to communicate our response to this situation, while respecting the privacy of our residents and staff. We thank you for your continued support, and may God bless you with good health.
