Like many communities throughout Oregon and nationwide, we continue to take every precaution to limit the exposure to residents and team members.
Since mid-October when we were notified that an agency staff member tested positive, we have completed no less than six rounds of testing primarily focused on staff and health service residents.
Currently, we’ve identified seven (7) positive cases in our community – one (1) resident and six (6) team members. We continue to follow proper protocol with a physician’s input for releasing staff back to work who have tested positive.
Following any positive test, Friendsview management has performed contact tracing, notified the State and those who were potentially exposed, and put additional precautions in place. It is very important the Friendsview family respects staff and resident privacy during this time and to refrain from questioning or discriminating against anyone. We will continue to contact people in a timely manner of possible exposure and will continue frequent employee and health service resident testing throughout this public health emergency.
Unfortunately, in recent weeks we’ve experienced worrisome delays in receiving test results. This has been caused by some problems being experienced by our contracted lab. As a result, we are currently seeking additional lab services while they work to correct the problems. As an additional tool, we have secured a limited number of rapid COVID-19 tests to assist in future screenings.
As of today, we are waiting for the results from our latest round of testing completed on Monday, Nov. 30. Results will be shared on our next update.
Additionally, the Executive Order put in place on Nov. 12 has been extended through Dec. 15. Please note indoor visitation continues to be temporarily suspended through that date as well, pending testing and health monitoring. We are actively working to accommodate outdoor or window visits, and greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.
