Bob and Earlene

We first thought of maybe living in a retirement community some years ago when we were volunteers at a beautiful new facility in Yuma, Arizona. At the time, we were “snowbirds” and the idea seemed too remote to think about, so we set it aside. Now, 25 years later, it is a reality, and we are loving every minute of it.

We have known about Friendsview for 35 years and have had many friends who lived here and some who still live here. They encouraged us to think about it more seriously — so we did!!

Friendsview, a Christian-oriented community, was a huge draw for us. Its reputation is stellar, and people here are a very happy group — administration, staff and residents. They always meet you with a smile. We didn’t see that in most other facilities we visited.

The continuing care community (CCRC), including long-term care, was also a big draw for us as we have seen family members moved from facility to facility as their health needs became greater. Also we didn’t want to move away from Newberg and especially our church, family and friends.

Another wonderful thing is being just across the street from George Fox University and all the enjoyable things it brings to the community.

Our move here in August 2012, has been a “God Thing” all the way, starting with our home selling in three days. We believe it is where we are meant to be, and it feels like home already.
