Supportive Living FAQs
How do I know if residential care or memory care is the right choice?
If you or your loved one needs help with daily activities, are experiencing memory changes, or would benefit from a safe and supportive environment, it may be time to explore residential care or memory care. Our team is here to help guide you through the decision, answer your questions, and ensure you find the right fit for your needs.
Residential care – Care Home – Senior Care Facility … What’s the difference?
“Care home,” “‘adult foster care,” “nursing facility,” “senior care facility,” and “residential care” are often used interchangeably, which can be confusing. Friendsview’s licensed Residential Care Facility provides supportive living for residents who benefit from assistance with things like daily living tasks, medication support, scheduling and attending appointments, and added nursing oversight in a residential setting. At Friendsview, residential care refers to care in one of the 4 neighborhoods in our licensed setting where residents receive help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medication administration and management. What sets us apart is our campus setting, which provides continuity of care as people progress through more complicated care needs, along with our mission-driven approach that focuses on whole-person well-being
Can I move directly into residential care or memory care?
Yes. You can now move directly into our residential care or memory care communities without first entering independent living. This new flexibility allows families to access the right level of support when it’s needed most, without delay.

Key Terms
Assisted Living
While many people search for “assisted living,” Friendsview offers supportive living in our Residential Care Facility. Our residential care includes personalized support with daily activities, and our unique neighborhood model provides a deeper level of care and oversight in a smaller, more home-like setting. Our care is more individualized and designed to adapt as needs change all within a Life Plan Community.
Memory Care
Memory Care is specialized care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. It includes:
- Two small neighborhoods, with staff specially trained in dementia care.
- A secure and supportive environment
- Structured routines
- Personalized care and engagement
- More than 50 community volunteers to allow for individualized activities, like walks around campus and in our canyon.
Supportive Living
Supportive Living is for seniors who need help with daily activities such as:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Medication admin management
- Mobility support
- Meals and housekeeping
Your loved one still has their own private room and as much independence as possible with 24-hour access to trained staff.
Care Inclusive Living
Care-Inclusive Living means your loved one has access to the full continuum of care. In simple terms, that means:
If their health needs increase, they don’t have to leave the Friendsview community to get more support.
Friendsview is a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) which simply means we offer different levels of senior care in one community. Care can adjust as needs change.
This reduces barriers and stress for families. You don’t have to start over somewhere new every time care needs increase.
Nursing Home / Nursing Facility
Friendsview is not a licensed Nursing Facility. This means that Medicare does not pay for care and is not focused on rehabilitation, rather daily living and thriving. Friendsview offers residential care and memory care in a more personalized, home-like setting. Our focus is on supporting daily living; things like meals, medication management, and personal care while ensuring residents maintain independence, dignity, and meaningful connections, with registered nursing oversight.
Unlike a traditional nursing home:
- Care at Friendsview is relationship-based and individualized, not clinical, or institutional
- Residents live in a welcoming community environment, not a hospital-like setting
- We provide continuity of care, so support can evolve as needs change
- As part of a Life Plan Community, residents have access to additional services and long-term peace of mind
